Stumped?

When I arrived on the scene, I found a long skinny backyard decorated with tree stumps. My clients wanted to build a landscape that would highlight a beautiful handmade cedar hot tub crafted in Maine. They also needed space for a dining and kitchen area, a cozy fire pit and a deck to enjoy the hot tub. Was I stumped?

The first thing we did was remove the stumps and prep the area for three distinct rooms. We also replaced the stairs with wrap around stairs that invite one to sit. We separated the driveway area and added privacy with a row of hornbeams. The dining area terrace is set with oversized linear, modern pavers. Flower filled corten steel containers separate the dining room from the granite and bluestone fire pit. Where the dining room meets the fire pit, the floor changes to stunning permeable 2X2 pavers.

We used the corten containers to separate the hot tub area and provide some privacy. The new horizontal cedar fence adds a further touch of modernity. A step up deck adds an interesting grade change and perch for the perfect hot tub!

A little rain won’t keep my clients from enjoying their new space!
